Following a consultation by NHS England GPs at Vesper Road Surgery will no longer be routinely prescribing over the counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns from 1st October 2018. Instead patients living in Leeds will be asked by all surgeries within the area to purchase these from their local pharmacy or supermarket.
Many common infections are caused by germs called viruses. Antibiotic medicines do not kill viruses. Also, many infections caused by germs called bacteria do not need antibiotics. These infections often get better without antibiotic treatment.
